The following is from an article written by Dr. Wilbanks in the 1995 Church Membership Directory:
On March 27, 1881, fifteen charter members organized our church. The first pastor was Rev. George Blewett who, eleven years before, had organized what is now the First Presbyterian Church of Richardson. He traveled to Mesquite twice a month on horseback to minister to the small congregation here, spending two nights and then traveling back to his home in Richardson on Monday.

Our First Church 1884In 1884 a one-room wooden frame church was built, facing what is now Davis Street. Later, a small room was added for the children's class room. Still later, a wooden fence was built around the church to keep the cows out of the church yard.

Our Second Church 1918In 1918, a new brick church was built on the same site. This handsome structure had beautiful stained glass windows, two of which are in our present building.

In the late 1950's, plans began for a new church at a new location. Our present building was dedicated on March 9, 1958. In 1991, a new building was completed which gave us additional classrooms and a larger kitchen and fellowship hall.

But the church is far more than a building. It is people, and we are grateful for the people who have sought to strengthen the ties that bind.
